Hello! It is I, Ael, again! In my last blog post, I wrote about how I’m in the transition period into industrial engineering and management. However, somewhere in my mind, I kind of always knew this was not quite right, even if it was close. I think it is past time I stopped chasing what is good enough, and started chasing what I want! And what is it that I want? Aside from infinite money, it’s actually to study at the Stockholm School of Economics’s (SSE) Business and Economics programme.
When it comes down to it, the reason I wanted to go into industrial engineering is because I like finance, economics, mathematics and data analysis. Now, while the engineering programme at KTH certainly gives this breadth of knowledge, it was a bit too…engineering-focused and a bit too deep into some areas I would find irrelevant…which makes this programme 5 year long! Meanwhile, the one at SSE is a 3 year long programme that gives the important bits that matters to me, and there is a lot of practical applications and connection to the industry. This, plus the fact that I’ve had a nagging feeling that I want to study something that is probably not engineering for once, makes the BE programme appealing. There is also the fact that there is business law (I like to read up about some types of laws okay?), and the fact that I’ve run a company before during my high school years, while also having run hobby project stores with my wife. All of my knowledge, combined with all the things I will learn from this school will be a perfect way to make me into an even more productive person!
I will apply to this programme through the “alternativ urval” bracket as I believe I have the necessary qualifications, even if my grades aren’t quite enough (I’m about 0.2 away from being eligible)! I have tried entering through this bracket once before, and gotten quite far, but I did not quite have the dedication to study at SSE at that time due to other circumstances in my life. But this time, I am fully dedicated, and will try to enter for multiple years if I have to (hopefully won’t have to though).
Now that my commitment of wanting to study at SSE is apparent, I will leave this here to any potential admissions officer who miiight accidentally stumble upon this (👋). Seriously though, this feels like juuust the right amount of years to spend on the bits that I find the most interesting. I will do my best, and prepare as much as possible in advance.
That’s all for today, see you all later!
