Hello there, everyone! Been a while! I’ve just had my last examination, in multivariable calculus, for the semester and have also applied to media technology engineering. It’s been a really long semester, starting all the way back in August 2023, and ended a week ago! Aside from multivariable calculus, I’ve also finished my “French for Engineers A1” course. So, je parle un peu français! I feel really proud of my progress in Multivariable Calculus, and French as I feel like I gave it my all these past few months, and it paid off! I’ve learned a lot of new things! I saw a random video online trying to find the maximum value of \(x^y\) under the condition \(x+y=8\). I tried using Lagrange multiplier and numerical methods to find the maximum value, and it worked! That got me really stoked 🔢
Now then, on the 11th of July 2024, I will know whether I got admitted to the media technology engineering programme. I will be actively blogging about the programme and the many faucets of student life as not many people from this specific programme talks about it online. While I have enjoyed being a computer engineering student, the multitude of uninteresting things within the programme has caused me to view technology in a different light. I do not, for example, want to understand the intricacies of computer architecture, write code with efficient time complexity, nor do formal logic with Prolog. Rather, I’d like to work with the processess surrounding development, user interaction, and ways of manipulating things (like video processing techniques) through signal processing (etc). As such, I’m looking forward to the programme swap! If it goes through, I’ll start in August.
Both programmes are within KTH, which means that I should not have to re-take examinations in everything, but only in certain courses that are a part of media technology engineering and not a part of computer engineering. These are mostly physics based courses. And due to already having experience studying intensive courses, I can safely move into another field without too much of a worry. My study technique is solid, and I am excited to learn new things!
Aaand that’s all for this blog post! Have you, the reader, ever switched your major? If so, why, and what did you learn through the process? I look forward to hearing from all of you!
