Welcome to my blog! I’m Ael, 25 years…young, and I am currently a computer engineering student at the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, which lies at the heart of Stockholm. I am currently a second year student, however, I am currently in the process of transitioning into my desired career of industrial engineering and management, which I am hoping to be accepted into by next semester (August). To that end, I am currently also trying to increase a few of my high school grades, such as Matematik 2 and Samhällskunskap 1 (Maths 2 and Social Sciences 1). By doing this, I should have enough points to be admitted into the programme. Parallel to this, I am also studying single variable calculus on my own time in order to do a retake on 8th January 2024 to increase my GPA. In other words, there is quite a lot going on right now.
During next period (January to June), I will be studying:
- Numerical Analysis, 6 ECTS.
- French A1 for Engineers, 7.5 ECTS.
- Multivariable Calculus, 7.5 ECTS.
- Statistics with Application towards Machine Learning, 7.5 ECTS.
- …Learn to Learn Online!, 2 ECTS.
Out of everything on that list, “Learn to Learn Online” is probably the most curious one. Why would I study something like that? Well, it was kind of the only way to meet the minimum requirement of 30 ECTS. As I’m a student at a Swedish university, studying at 100% requires me to study at least 30 ECTS per period. So there you have it! And while I have to study all of these, I have to make sure I get good enough grades on some high school courses in order to be able to swap my programme. Kind of funny when it is put in those words!
Who am I, besides a student?
I am actually a married person who met my wonderful wife about 4 years ago! We got married almost around the same time that we met each other since we were very alike! I felt like I had known her for an eternity the day I met her, and I would consider that day one of my luckiest, if not the luckiest, day in my life. Apart from that, I like to tinker with electronics, read finance, play video games (when I have the time to!), write code, and be out and about with my wife. If we go a bit deeper into the video game part, I find that as I get older, I am drawn more towards mobile gaming which is something I never thought I would have liked as a child. The games are just..there, easy to access, and easy to put away, unlike having to be at the computer, fix any potential bugs with controllers not connecting and whatnot, and that is time that I simply do not seem to have anymore! WHEN I am at the computer in search of playing something, I would say FFXIV would top my list. Besides that, anything casual, co-op or…the occassional souls-like would be up my alley.
Why journal?
As a child, I often used to blog about the most random things, ranging from game reviews, to my interests, to mathematics, and so on, so forth. I found it to be a good way to solidify the things I had an interest in, and the things I wanted to know more about. The goal of this new blog will be just that - an aim to solidify my interests and understanding of random topics. A goal my child-self once targeted so many years ago. I might blog about my day in one post, and maybe analyse a company in the next, and share some random trivia about programming in the third. Regardless of what I do, the point is to type away, until my mind is blank once more!
Since this is my first blog post, I will put my pen to rest right about now. And, as the new year approaches, I wish you all a happy new year, and hope to see you again next year when my blogging hopefully accelerates!
